Lovely Popper fastening Pocket Nappies made in Devon

Pocket Bots, like other pocket nappies, have a waterproof outer and a fleece inner. These two layers make a pocket which you stuff with absorbent inserts to suit your baby. Pocket nappies do not need a wrap and, once stuffed, go on in one piece, making nappy changes quick and easy. They dry very quickly and their slimness makes them an ideal day time nappy.

Pocket Bots are cut to be comfortable and slim fitting. They are quite narrow between the legs, giving a very trim fit. They have a row of poppers on each side for the waist adjustment and a row for the leg adjustment. These poppers are angled to be easily adjusted for skinnier legs or fatter tummies. Unlike other pocket nappies, Pocket Bot poppers are far around the sides of the nappy - making it harder for a toddler to remove!

Pocket Bots are also unique in that they have an insert gripper at the back of the nappy to hold the inserts snuggly in place, ensuring that they won't drop into the middle or poke out of the nappy waistband causing leaks.

Pocket Bots nappies are sold without inserts. There are a variety of inserts that can be used in Pocket Bots nappies. Microfibre inserts are absorbent but slim and dry quickly. Some babies will need two microfibre inserts per nappy or one microfibre insert and a slim booster such as a bamboo booster. Hemp inserts are super-absorbent, but take a bit longer to dry than microfibre.

Fuzzi Bunz are one of the most popular nappies in the US and they have since been copied by many other manufacturers. These are the "Perfect Size" Fuzzi Bunz - available in a range of sizes to fit perfectly. Most babies will need Small, Medium and Large, but many will only need Small and Medium. Extra Small and Extra Large are also available if needed for premature babies and older toddlers.

Fuzzi Bunz pocket nappies have an outer waterproof layer and a lightweight breathable, polyester fleece inner layer. These two layers form a pocket, which you stuff with inserts. The nappy is then put on in one piece and leg and waist poppers fastened to fit. Really quick and easy for anyone to use.

Drying time: You can’t get quicker drying than pocket nappies! Fuzzi Bunz will dry overnight on a rack indoors or in a couple of hours on the line outside.

Absorbency: Fuzzi Bunz can be stuffed to suit the absorbency you need. One microfibre insert gives a very slim fit and will be enough for many children. Two microfibre inserts will suit a heavier wetter, leaving the fit still slimmer than almost all other nappies. Many people use Fuzzis overnight successfully, but if you have a heavy wetter you might find that you can’t physically stuff enough absorbent material in to last your little one for a whole night! Fit: Fuzzi Bunz are very slim fitting (even with two inserts.) The wide range of sizes mean that you should always be able to find a size that fits the shape of your child. Fuzzi Bunz are quite high in the rise meaning that they fit tall babies beautifully. This does not affect the fit on shorter babies.

Comfort: The fleece inner layer of a Fuzzi Bunz will wick wetness away from baby’s skin, keeping it dry. As fleece stays soft despite frequent washing without fabric softner you will always be putting a soft layer next to baby’s skin.

Care: Wash at 40 degrees C or up to 60 degrees C with a small amount of non-bio detergent. Fuzzi Bunz can be tumble dried, but there won't be many occasions when you would need to as they dry so quickly naturally.

Suitable inserts: Fuzzi Bunz come with their own insert (one per nappy). Nature Babies microfibre inserts also work well, as do folded terry squares and prefolds.

The Swaddlebees Econappi is a beautiful nappy giving excellent performance. It is a Onesize Pocket nappy with poppers that adjust the fit from 8 to 35lbs approx. This means that you do not have to buy multiple sizes. The inside of the Swaddlebees Econappi is lined with the most luxurious Organic Cotton Velour. This is unique in the pocket nappy world as other manufacturers have chosen to use fleece for the inner layer. If you are keen to have organic fabrics next to your baby's skin and still want the convenience of a pocket nappy then this is the one for you.

The Swaddlebees Econappi comes with its own long rectangular insert made from hemp and organic cotton, giving superior absorbency than cotton or microfibre, but with a quicker drying time than bamboo. Hemp takes a few washes to get up to full absorbency so be prepared to wait a while before you see the real benefit of these inserts. You can still use them during this process but you will need to change a little sooner until they have had about 10 washes. When the nappy is on its smallest setting use the smaller of the two inserts, use the large insert as your baby gets bigger and both insert together when your baby is a toddler.

Using the insert outside of the pocket, just placed on the inside of the nappy (essentially using the nappy as a wrap) is an option that often works well for newborn babies, allowing the leg elastic to fit differently and increasing containment.

A Popper Fastening Onesize Pocket Nappy from the USA

Mommy's Touch is a Onesize pocket nappy, extending with a clever arrangement of poppers to fit from around 8lbs to 35lbs. The waterproof outer and fleece inner form a pocket, which you stuff with inserts (not included) to the level of absorbency your baby needs. This is the newer version Mommy's Touch. It is called the "Easy Clean" because there is an opening at both ends of the nappy so that the insert works its way out in the wash - no separating nappy and insert before putting in the nappy bucket!

This new version adjusts in a much neater way than the original Mommy's Touch. The waist and leg openings of the nappy can be adjusted separately to give a good fit. For bigger toddlers, extender tabs can be purchased to give further adjustment. As with all pocket nappies, Mommy's Touch dry extremely quickly making them a brilliant option for those with limited drying facilities. On average, 3 or 4 hours indoors.

Inserts: Mommy's Touch pocket nappies are supplied without inserts. They can be stuffed with a variety of absorbent inserts to suit your baby - a large microfibre insert can be folded to fit the smaller setting or you could use small inserts in the early months. We recommend Green Acre Design inserts are these are easily folded to fit in any setting. Microfibre, cotton, hemp, bamboo, whichever inserts you prefer can be used with these nappies.

Mommy's Touch nappies are fleece lined which will wick wetness away from baby’s skin, keeping it dry. As fleece stays soft despite frequent washing without fabric softner you will always be putting a soft layer next to baby’s skin.

These are gorgeous nappies in a beautiful range of colours including classic white. Some people have been put off by the name, which we must admit is a bit cheesy! But don't let that stop you from trying this excellent nappy!

The Cotton Diddy Diaper is made from unbleached, natural cotton and has soft cotton jersey (like t-shirt material) on the inside which stays super soft no matter how hard your water is.

Cotton Diddy Diapers are available with Aplix (velcro) fastenings or simply can be fastened with a Nappy Nippa fastener.

Size:

Size 1: This is a great nappy suitable for newborns and lasting up to 17lbs (7.5kg). It is one of the nicest fitting nappies for newborns that we have found, fitting from day one without being too bulky. We loved using these on our own babies as soon as they were born! The Nippa fastening version can easily be folded down at the front for very little babies, or to keep the nappy away from the umbilical area for the first few days. We have found that the size 1 fits to about 4 months and at this point some people then go straight onto a "onesize" nappy that will fit all the way through to potty training from this point.

Size 2: Size 2 Diddys are slim fitting two-part nappies that are great for the day time. They need a significant amount of boosting for night time use - something like a bamboo square folded into a pad.

The Diddy Diaper needs to have a waterproof wrap on the outside. We recommend Nature Babies wraps or Motherease wraps. Both are leak-proof, soft and very breathable.

This is a very quick-drying, soft nappy, ideal for newborns. It is made from microfibre with a 100% cotton jersey lining which provides a natural fabric next to baby's skin. The microfibre and the jersey lining will stay soft no matter how hard your water is.

The Size 1 Diddy Diapers fit all shapes and sizes of newborns from 4lbs to 15bs. They are slim-fitting but still absorbent enough for the first few months. You may find though, that you need to add a booster towards the end of their weight range. Very popular newborn nappies.

The Size 2 Diddy Diapers are also available for your growing baby and fit from 13lbs to 35lbs.

The Easy Peasy Bimble is made from cotton terry and has a fleece lining which is much softer against your baby's skin than terry and naturally wicks away moisture.   This nappy also has an attached terry booster increasing the absorbency but can be pulled out from the main nappy to reduce drying time.

Choose from poppers or Nappi Nippa fastening.

Size 0 is a great newborn nappy and will fit small babies to about 4 months. The Size 1 is suitable for bigger newborns and should fit to about 6 to 8 months. The Nappi Nippa version is brilliantly versitile. You can fold the front down to reduce the height of the nappy or to keep the nappy away from the umbilical area in the first few days.The Size 2 should fit from about 6 to 8 months to potty training.

The Bimble is not a bulky nappy and consequently will need to be boosted for use at night once your baby is sleeping through the night. We recommend a bamboo booster for goos absorbency for minimal bulk.

The Tots Bots Flexi Tot is a clever nappy design that makes use of all the latest fabric technology. We are really impressed with this nappy. It is a great addition to the superb range from Tots Bots.

Much quicker to dry than other bamboo nappies, the Flexi Tot is super soft, slim fitting and yet still very absorbent. Bamboo velour next to baby, microfibre inner core and stretchy, close-fitting, stay-dry fabric around the waist and the outer layer of the nappy.

Striking a great balance between fit, absorbency and drying time. The new version FlexiTot has an improved leg fit and now comes in a Birth-to-Potty option with the addition of fold down poppers. This makes the size 1 fit from as low as 6lbs and the size 2 from 10lbs. For the majority (especially if you plan to use disposables for the first few weeks) for the size 2 is all you will need, but remember to add 4 extra size 1 wraps to your size 2 set making your Birth-to-Potty pack complete.

Don't let the slim fit and light weight fool you. The combination of fabrics and unique core construction make this as thirsty as you'll ever need. The size 2 FlexiTot absorbs more liquid than the leading disposable brand. Tots Bots Flexi Tots nappies need a waterproof wrap over the top. Tots Bots make their own waterproof wraps in a funky range of prints (and white!). We highly recommend both Motherease and Nature Babies Wraps. Both work very well with Tots Bots nappies and are very breathable and great at stopping leaks.

We love Bambinex nappies for their great fit on small newborn babies. They adjust by folding down the front and fastening with a Nappi Nippa. You can make the nappy a snug, compact fit on even the littlest babies (smallest we have known it used on was 5lbs 1oz) due to its slimness and the fact that the booster can be removed completely. This nappy is Bambinex's Size 2, but we feel that it works so well as a birth to potty nappy we have decided to not to stock the Size 1. 

Bambinex bamboo nappies are made of the highest quality East Asian bamboo. Bamboo is a brilliant eco-friendly material, having hardly any impact on the environment. It is highly biodegradable, it has a short growth cycle, making it a sustainable crop, and, unlike cotton, it can thrive naturally without the use of pesticides. Bamboo also has natural antibacterial qualities. Tests show that bamboo absorbs 60% more moisture than cotton. This means that bamboo nappies can be much less bulky than cotton nappies for the same absorbency.  The Bambinex nappy is even slimmer than other bamboo nappies making it a very slim, but absorbent day-time nappy.  If you have a heavy wetter you may find that you need to add an extra booster to this nappy when your baby becomes a toddler. Similarily, when using Bambinex nappies at night, you will need to add extra boosters.

Slow drying time is the one downside of bamboo nappies (there had to be one.). Bamboo fabric is the slowest drying of all nappy fabrics. These nappies take a couple of days on an indoor drying rack to dry. This is because the fabric is so absorbent. The Bambinex booster is separate to aid drying. 

Care: With both the Bambinex Bamboo and Teddy wash at 40 or 60 degrees for optimum performance and longer lasting nappies. Tumble dry on low heat or line dry whenever possible. 

Sizing: The Size 2 fits from birth to potty-training (approx. 35lbs). You will need a Nappi Nippa fastener for these nappies.

Any of the wraps we sell fit over Bambinex nappies well.

Nature Babies wraps have become a firm favourite with many cloth nappy users. They are made from a waterproof PUL inner and polyester outer. The leg bindings are softer than many other wraps, making them great for night times when the wrap will be on for a long time.

Nature Babies wraps are available in velcro and popper fastenings. There are multisizing poppers on newborn/small and small/medium that will adjust the rise (height) of the wrap so that you can achieve a better fit on different sizes and shapes of babies.

Sizing:

Small - to fit from birth to around 14lbs.

Medium - from about 14lbs to about 28lbs.

Large - from about 20lbs to about 32lbs.

Extra Large - from about 30lbs upwards.

Care: Capable of being washed at well over 60 degrees and can be tumble dried.

Popper fastening All-in-One.

Officially Ali's new favourite nappy! Gorgeous and soft, absorbent, slim fitting, SO easy to use and fairly quick drying. Is this the perfect nappy? Time will tell as this is the Version 2 and has not been around very long. But so far, it is pretty hard to fault.

Real Easy All-in-One nappies are a fantastic new design from Hip Hip Baby. They go on in one piece (they do not need a wrap over the top) and fasten with poppers which are durable and secure. They have a gorgeously soft fleece inner layer which keeps skin dry by wicking the moisture away from the skin into the absorbent layer behind, as well as providing a stain-resistent, easy care inner. The absorbent part of the nappy is a microfibre layer sewn behind the fleece and an organic cotton soaker pad that is sewn in to the back of the nappy, but which flaps out for speedy drying. If you turn the nappy inside out for drying we have found they dry easily in a day. To use you simply tuck the organic cotton layer in behind the fleece and away you go. No extra bits to find. Genius!

The Real Easy from HipHipBaby looks just like a pocket nappy but the absorbent inserts are sewn in meaning that you do not have to collect together any other bits in order to do a nappy change. The Real Easy is completely fleece lined, keeping the whole nappy area dry. Popper fastenings for the waist and legs give some adjustability within each size. Poppers are a durable and secure fastening.

There are two parts to the absorbent element of the Real Easy; a microfibre layer is sewn onto the back of the fleece layer, in addition to this there is a flap out organic cotton layer. You simply pop it back inside the nappy once dry. Traditional All-in-One nappies (with no flap out bit) took too long to dry due to everything been sewn in together, but the new generation of All-in-Ones work brilliantly well. With the Real Easy, you don't even have to take the organic cotton layer out for washing, you just bung the whole thing into the bucket as it is and the cotton layer works its way out in the wash. Now, what could be easier than that?

HipHipBaby! have designed a unique leg elastic design that is brilliantly soft, yet leakproof. They are designed so that the outer waterproof layer does not come into contact with baby's skin. The soft fleece completely covers the elastic and there is no bulky seam, giving a lovely, gentle fit around the leg to ensure baby's comfort. Around the leg the fleece contains the wetness, whilst allowing air to pass into the nappy, allowing the skin to breathe. Fleece does not draw up liquid and cause wicking at the leg, meaning that this design is brilliantly leak-proof.

The Real Easy needs a couple of pre-washes before the absorbency gets up to speed.

Real Easy Nappies are available in a range of sizes to ensure a great fit all the time. Many babies will only require sizes Small and Medium until potty training. Sizing guide:

Fleece lined newborn-sized bamboo nappy. Popper or Velcro fastening.

The Bambeasy Size 0 is the cutest newborn nappy we have seen. It is the kind of nappy that makes disposable users green with envy and it is always the one that makes Grannies go all gooy when we do demos! This is an ideal newborn nappy for twins or small newborns. These nappies are easy to fold away from the umbilical area in the first week after birth as there is no excess bulk to this nappy.

Completely fleece-lined, keeping baby's skin dry. A booster (extra layer of bamboo to increase absorbency) tucks behind the fleece layer, then flaps out during drying to decrease drying time.

Bamboo is a stay-soft, super absorbent fabric. It is fast growing, making it a sustainable crop, it does not need pesticides and can be grown organically. It is also naturally antibacterial. But (there has to be one), bamboo takes longer to dry than other fabrics.

The Bambeasy Size 0 fits from 5lbs to 15lbs.

When your baby grows out of the Size 0 you can go on to the Easy Peasy Bambeasy BTP (Birth to Potty, but fits from around 10lbs) which will then fit right the way through to potty training.

Any of our wraps will fit over the Bambeasy, but if you would like to retain the slim fit of the Bambeasy Size 0 we recommend the Motherease Rikki XS wrap.

Another beautiful product from Motherease.

Sandy's are different to other shaped, two-part nappies in that they fasten at the sides instead of at the front. This gives a slimmer profile on the front and is great for tummy sleepers. It is also very useful at that wriggly stage as, with a bit of practice you can actually put these nappies on with baby lying on his or her front or with them standing up!

Sandy's give a good fit due to the side poppers (2 settings to give a bit of adjustability) and offer good absorbency for general daytime use. To use them at night you need to add a booster. The Motherease Sit In boosters are a perfect fit. Sandy's are not a snug, tight-fitting nappy, they are a gentle roomy fit, but neither are they bulky.

We have used Sandy's with Motherease wraps for many years, the combination is a firm favourite for their leakproofness and for the high quality of materials that Motherease always use. Obviously we cannot guarantee how many babies these nappies will last but ours have gone on and on and if you look after them yours should too! We have found that due to the stretchy cotton fabric used, even the cotton nappies have stayed fairly soft over the years (compared to long-pile terry towelling fabric that goes very hard).

Sandy's come in Unbleached cotton and Bamboo. Bamboo is 3 times more absorbent than cotton (and stays huggably soft), but takes about 3 times as long to dry. Consider cotton for the day time and bamboo for the night time.

The XS are just gorgeous on a newborn but as the Small fit from 8lbs most babies will just need the two sizes, Small and Large, making these nappies an economical option.

Thick cotton terry with a fleece lining to keep baby's skin dry, even all night. There is a pocket behind the fleece layer which can be stuffed with extra boosters or pocket nappy inserts to make a nappy suited to your baby's needs. A fantastic night time nappy.

The Bumble has a flap out booster to aid quick drying. This booster is also removable and the nappy can be poppered down 'inside itself' to use the lower set of poppers for newborn babies.

Bumbles can be used as a day time or night time nappy. They are quite bulky, but brilliantly absorbent.

Any of the brands of wraps that we stock can be used with this nappy. If you intend to use this nappy at night and will be boosting it, you will probably need a bigger sized wrap than you use in the daytime.

These are great nappies, especially for night-time. They are the only pocket nappies we have found that can take enough stuffing to last a heavy wetter through the night. Being a pocket nappy they go on in one piece, which is great for wriggly toddlers, and the soft fleece is comfortable for extended wear overnight.

Manufacturer's Info: These funky nappies are a modern take on the traditional cloth nappy and wrap A breathable waterproof membrane is 'sandwiched' between an inner stay dry layer and an outer fun layer to create a pocket into which you ‘stuff’ the correct amount of absorbency needed to suit your child, this can be anything from a traditional terry square, prefold, specialist soaker pad or even a piece of old bath towel! Once ‘stuffed’ these cloth nappies are very easy to use one piece onto which you lay your baby that then fastens quickly using hook and loop. The crossover, close using the best quality, soft, flexible and hard-wearing hook and loop fastening, gives a massive eight inches of adjustment to the waist of this nappy, with the legs adjusting pro-rata, giving a good fit on the slimmest or chunkiest baby.

The Nature Babies Big Softie is a great nappy and is now available in super-soft bamboo or economical cotton.

UK made fleece-lined cotton nappy that adjusts from birth to Potty-Training so you only have to buy one set.

The Big Softie has a number of features that makes it a real winner. For newborns, the nappy is folded down at the front to shorten the height, then the nappy is fastened in place using a Nappi Nippa giving a snug and not too bulky fit from around 7lbs.

If your newborn is very little, you can just use the boosters on their own inside a close fitting wrap, before you move onto the nappy itself. As baby turns into a toddler the Big Softie nappy is used at its full height at the front and the boosters are added as required (behind the fleece lining so this is still closest to the skin).

Nature Babies really have thought of everything with the Big Softie! A brilliant design from a very experienced UK nappy manufacturer.

The Big Softie needs a waterproof wrap on the outside. Nature Babies' own wraps are one of the best on the market and a great combination with this nappy.
