About Us

After almost 7 years I have decided to stop selling nappies and move on to other things. There is a massive Clearance Sale on the website and I will be winding down over the next few months. THANK YOU to all my lovely customers for you custom and fun times over the last 7 years.

Anyone want to buy a nappy website? Email me on ali@totnesnappycompany.co.uk

The Totnes Nappy Company is run by Ali, cloth nappy fan and mum of three boys who were all in cloth nappies since birth. Ali runs the business whilst looking after the boys who are now 6, 5 and 2. This obviously means that things are not run on a 9 to 5, five days a week basis, but luckily Totnes Nappy Customers are generally very lovely and very understanding! ali-and-boys

The Totnes Nappy Company started in 2005 in a spare bedroom but soon outgrew the house and is now run from a converted agricultural building.

Ali is not completely alone though; husband Steve helps out when he is not too busy running his business (www.westcountryhardware.co.uk). The businesses are next door to each other which is lucky as with evening demos and the usual family commitments, we wouldn't get to see very much of each other otherwise!

We are both cloth nappy converts and have been using them every day for almost 7 years. Ali has come to know the pros and cons of every nappy type and brand. We have used disposables occassionally over the years, but are not much impressed with their performance, their look, their feel and of course their longevity (one use and then bin it seems very bizarre when you are used to washing and reusing - just imagine having to get used to using paper plates or paper clothes after years of using the real thing!)

All the products we sell are tested and we only stock what we would happily use on our own children.

Our first nappy tester. Now long out of nappies and at school. But can still be heard shouting "we don't want those" at Pampers commercials. That's my boy! Our second little boy, here busy in his yellow Fuzzi. His favourite job at the office is unpacking the rolls of paper liners and putting them away. He also loves drawing and will draw on anything - so, sorry if the box your order comes in is illustrated! Our gorgeous, sweet little baby boy and current nappy tester. Born October 2009.

We are very aware how bewildering the world of cloth nappies is when you first decide you want to use them. High street shops generally have an appallingly poor selection (although some are thankfully getting better) and the range on the internet is huge and varied. Then there is all the jargon - liners . . . inserts . . . Aplix . . .

This website has been designed to help first-time cloth users to better understand which nappy system is right for them. If you are new to it all, start at "Help and Advice". If you are an experienced cloth nappy user and you know what you want then we have hopefully put in enough links straight to the products so that you can go straight there and find what you are looking for.
